What’s A Hurricane?

September 27, 2008 · 2 Comments

“The wind blows so hard the ocean gets up on it’s hind legs and walks across the land.” From the movie ‘Key Largo’.

And that’s what happened in Texas, two weeks ago today. (I know this is ‘old news’ but we just got power restored Wednesday evening). I can’t say alot about things down here because depression has set in and it’s hard to dwell on. Suffice it to say that my home was spared and my family is fine. But the destruction in this region is stunning. I would never have believed, having lived here all my life and been through several hurricanes, that a Cat 2 would have done what Ike has done. The ocean did, indeed, walk across the land.

It is terrible what wind and rain can do. I am glad that you and your family came through it safely.

Paula, I am a fan of yours from Ravelry (RockportMo). I wanted to tell you how much I love your Ziggy Lace Scarf pattern and have been worried about you since I discovered your Etsy shop was closed. I’m glad you and the family were spared and so sorry for the devastation in your part of Texas. Best of luck to all of you.
